I am trying to figure out what size rig I need to handle about 1000 taps on vaccum. I'm sure there has been discussion on this subject before, but I havent found that thread yet! Does anyone have a table that shows average evaporation rates for different size rigs? I plan on using a wood fired rig if that makes a difference.

Thanks

I think the best table for evaporation rates was in Bascoms catalog in the section with Steamaways. That gives most sizes and rates with and with out steamaway.

The Leader ads on the back of the Maple News have aprox evap rates with an inferno type arch and seem to be pretty acurate and not overstated.

I think that you should be looking for a 3x10 or larger evaporator. That will give you about 100 gph or 10 to 12 hours boiling time with a 1000 gallon run. If you were to factor in an RO machine you could do it with a 2x6 and a lot less wood.

Thanks guys, I'll see if I can dig up one of those charts. I would love to get an ro, but I have to get the CFO to approve the building and rig first! I'm kind of working on putting together a "business" plan!
