I got it. I think it is worthwhile. I really didn't know squat about proper installation of tubing before I got it. I still have some questions. It doesn't have good diagrams or pictures of how to properly design or hook up boosters or hook up a vacuum pump to the tubing and tank but it definately has good information about the rest of it.

The tubing book is put out by the Ontario government I think. I don't have it on me here. I ordered it through them along with the new sugarbush management book, which was updated. That book is good too, although the previous edition by Carence Coons I thought was better.

The book I got was mostly blue on the cover. the book was great and as i have yet to set up a tubing system, i feel like i could run an effective tubing network with refering back to the book. i may come across questions in the woods when i start, but i will certainly refer back here at that time as well. i got mine from www.andersonsmaplesyrup.com for $21.00. has some great ideas for how to run your lines in a variety of circumstances. hope that helps.

The one I have I think has a picture of trees with inset pictures of tubing and tanks, about 86 pages total. I think the authors are Lew Staats and Don Chapaskie.

About any of these books are a good tool for someone starting out in sugaring, especially when they don't know much or anything at all in tubing. I am sure you can find faults will any and all of them but they are still good tools.

Hey 74.
I Won. I wasn't sure it was you. Not sure yet how I'm going to use them this year, but with the bug as bad as I've got it, I'll find a way.
The book arrived Monday and It's good. I still think I would need someone to show me the way, but at least I have an idea of what everybody is talking about.

Find a local sugarmaker with a good tubing system or a nearby trader member and see if you can take an hour or two of their time and they can show you a ton in a short period of time that will be invaluable.

Just remember mfchef, keep um tight and down hill.Try to stay on the south side of trees in the shady areas. A little practice and some advice and you will be a pro!I love seeing it zooming down those lines i'm adding 300 more taps this year 200-300 on vac to.
