Just wondering if we could come up with some nifty ideas for converting a 55 gallon drum (steel, epoxy lined, used only once for maple syrup, good condition) into a serviceable cradle for use in a sugar house:) .

Ok, you clowns. I'm a wreck as it is now and we are talking twins.

I'll have to fab up something for giggles. I'll keep the bung plugs out of the bottom so the not so quality product can drain out.

Twins run in my wife's side of the family. OH no, another cup of coffee please.

Matt they skip every other generation, so if your wife is a twin you are all set!!! :)

Got an idea.
Cut the drum in half lengthwise and string it up between two posts with rope.
Every time the little nippers start squawking, just give it a hip check and start it to swingin'. Could give it a bump every time you charge the firebox.

Those of us with chickens use a wooden lattice type device under the roost to catch that "not so quality" product. The poo drops between the slats to a pan. Keeps the chickens from stepping in it and dragging it all over the place. Makes clean-up a little easier in the coop.

Could be adapted for your situation, would save on diapers too. :D

Get out the Sawzall, we can whip up something that will work real quick. This sounds like a project for a future Mapleholics meeting.
