the hero 50 is great for a larger evaporator than a 2x6 for 2500 taps. i think that you need at least a 500 gph r/o for that many taps with your size rig. the hero works on volume and evaporation rate. the more sap the evap needs the less it consentrates.after a draw off and you are boiling again it will con more. where an r/o you can set the consentration rate at 8 or 10 percent. the r/o will be running while you are doing other things, like checking lines ect. then when the con tank is far enough ahead of the evap rate per hour you start boiling.

The Hero is used in line with your evaporator and only processes 50 gallons of sap in an hour. That means that it removes about 35 gallons of water at best. With the number of taps that you will have you would be better off with a real RO machine. A 600 gph machine would be best but a smaller one would still do more than the Hero.

For RO machine prices check The Maple Guys they sell CDL and Lapierre machines and their prices are pretty good. A 300 gph machine will produce about 75 gallons of concentrate at 8% in an hour. Thats more than twice as much as a stock 2x6 will boil off in an hour.

Ads are in the October Maple Digest. RO is a 100 so output would be about 25 Gal if you wanted say 8% sap/but you could let out more and have it release say 35 GPH through the membrane if you wanted too.

You could go online to www.Bascommaple.com for the RO and the Vacuum pump i'd have to look for the # at home in the maga. that came in yesterday.

Click here to goto the RO at Bascoms http://www.bascommaple.com/store/used.php?cat=47
