Hi
I'm going to install about 450 feet of 3/4 inch mainline. Can I just go to Home Depot and get the tubing instead of going to Bascomb's.

I don't have a tsc anywhere near me. Wouldn't a Home Depot be just as good??

I beleive there is a TSC in Littleton, NH.. shop around, if you can find a supp;ier like Portland Plastick in Portland, ME it will be alot cheaper..

Yes, the black poly pipe at HD, Lowes and TSC are all the same. Where ever you can find it the cheapest. The lower PSI is less expensive and suitable for sap, even under vacuum.

3/4" plastic pipe is fairly cheap. You may be better off going to the nearest hardware store and buying it there with price of gas these days. You wouldn't have to go very far to chew up any savings on the pipe with the cost of the fuel.

Syrupman,
As the others have said, that waterpipe would be fine.
I bought some black pipe at Bascom's a couple of years age and I really don't like it.
It was soft feeling and the ties really didn't hold it good or as good as I would have liked.
The pipe I got before from Bascom's was a stiffer pipe and the ties seem to hold better.
So with all that said I would go to Home Depot (that's my Toy Store), it's water pipe, so it's food grade!
But above all, check for prices!!

Bascoms used to carry a lot of Lapierre pipe which is food grade (smoother finish on the surface inside and out) I think that pipe is better because its more flexible. On the downside it was more expensive. The pipe you get at home depot etc is not food grade but functions the same .

Thank you all for the info on the 3/4" black plastic pipe. I'll probably go to Home Depot because there's one near me.

The black pipe is potable, so it is the same thing as food grade.

I to would recommend you call around. HD/Lowes were about substanially more expensive than TSC for 3/4" I just bought 1600 feet.

Yikes, even that is up from the $69.99 for 100psi 400ft I paid less than a month ago at TSC (unless it is cheaper in Pa?)
