Current bulk prices?

What are you currently being paid for your bulk syrup (all different grades) in your local areas? I just want to gauge what the market is across the different syrup producing regions.

The last time I sold some syrup to Bascom's early in July they were paying $3/pound for all grades. I've also bought some at that very same price from some local producers to fil some orders with different grade syrup than I have, if that helps any.

I'm holding onto what I have and selling retail. I should sell out (and get a better price per gallon) by December. I think some of the supermarket prices (which come from the bulk buyers) are actually making people look for local producers.

Sounds like the price of syrup has at least leveled off. Late spring around here in Maine it was $4.00 -$4.50 lb if you could find any. I have been hearing that there is more availible now.

Were Bascoms paying $3.00 for commercial also?

I think they are all set. Goodriches are paying $3.25 if you need to get rid of some syrup.

This is not selling but buying - Atkinson's quoted me $4.35/lb last week to buy in a 32 gallon drum. Looks like I'll be telling my retail outlets we won't have any new syrup until March!

All I am going to say is, we are getting very close to what we need for the year. I am know longer going to speculate on where the prices go but when we get to our goal we won't be raising the prices anymore.

Jerry- I tryed calling maple grove a few minutes ago and think i got through to the right extension=Haven King and left a message. Just wanted to check on the price's before i head north with some syrup and find out the price went to $3.50 a Lb or something like that?

It is still 4 dollars Governor, They take syrup until 3:30 in the afternoon. Leaving a message on Haven's answering machine is like tossing a rock in a 300 foot quarry most of the time, you most likely will never see it again, but then sometimes he will surprise you.

Are you selling some syrup to buy your tickets to go to Cancun?

I'm getting ready to travel light. Only thing i can carry on the V-rod is a change of clothes, a Tent+S. Bag and maybe 2 metal detectors-Probably my Excalibur 1000 water and my DFX for land. Guns well i'll have to leave them behind as i don't think they'll let me cross the border with them?

I would like to say thank you to all the fellow traders that brought in syrup this year. I got to meet alot of you and talked to a few on the phone.

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT WE WON'T BE TAKING SYRUP THE WHOLE WEEK OF tHANKSGIVING.

For those of you out there that want to sell after Thanksgiving we will be taking it the following Monday and beyond.

If you had 4 or more drums it would be worth the trip to Maple Groves in Saint J, VT for about $175 a drum extra. $4.00 a Lb across the board/Not $3.40. There (Wisconsin Broker) waiting for a load so they can make the haul BIGTIME.

When is the Mid-West Co-op starting up guys???. If someone had 10 barrels i'd make the trip out and back for sure.

There is more syrup criss crossing this country it makes the head spin. Large producer in my county buys bulk from Canada so you ask why not pay a decient price and keep the shipping cost down? It only stands to reason that as the bulk suppliers out east jack up prices we benefit here in cheese land.

I'd take snoop dog for a ride=he like maples trees like i do. Head up 39/51 and see my buddy mike in Mosinee and then go a few miles north and hit 29 west (Maple Alley) across central Wis= Lots of nice bush's there too snoop. Been across 29 about 5 times. 2X all the way from Green bay and Octno Falls to the twin cities before. Did see quite a few bushs/but some with no tubing??

I would say that wisc. is the great untaped. Problem is in my neck of the woods the season is so dang short. Last year it was about 10 days of good steady running.
