Looked at a rig today and would like to know what is fair price to pay for the following setup?
-Leader 2.5x5ft drop flue pan soldered, mfg. date 1990
-Leader 2.5x3ft syrup soldered, mfg. date 1997
-Leader arch probably 1990
-homemade galv. hood
-marcland drawoff
Would the solder contain lead? I'm new to sugarin so not sure what to think of the 4000 asking price? Any input would be welcome.
Thanks,
Nate

seems pretty decent considering the drawoff is like 1k. I paid 3100 for my 2x6 new with stainless pan

I would pick up a lead test kit to see if the solder has lead in it. Plumbing inspectors use it to see if plumbers are cheating in new construction.

1990 is right about when folks started switching over from lead to no lead...so the flu pan probably yes to lead, but the syrup pan likely no lead..
the lead test kits are easy to get at a local hardware store...get the one for testing lead in pipes/plumbing...scuff the solder with 120 grit sand paper, put a few drops of water on it, then use one of the testing strips...
I bought a 1991 grimm lead free w/2.5 x 2.5 syrup and 2.5 x 5.5 flu pan, 2 poly tanks, 2 stock tanks, 200 buckets, bunch of crappy tubing, a 12 x 20 canner, etc...for $3200 18 months ago...
with the autodraw and the hood that might be an okay price...
