That is an awful small evap for the number of taps that you have listed. 25-30 GPH is about average evaporation for that rig. Is this rig a drop or raised flue? You might get 35 GPH with a preheater and hood.

caseyssugarshack93- We also have a raised flue waterloo small 2x6 and run about 1000 taps on vac. We have a forced draft and a steam away. we could only get about 25-28 gallon per hour the first year with forced draft. We added the steam away and changed the draft system to a variable speed vortex radon fan and changed the duct work. We have a ss steam hood and we can get 50-51 gallons per hour now I don't think that 25GPH is too bad for a straight 2x6
Just our two cents!

Whats your stack temp? Our 2x6 doesn't really come to life until at least 1200 stack temp. Do you have good dry finely split wood? If you don't have a stack temp guage try to get one with the probe. More acurate. We drilled the hole for ours basicly at the top of the base stack. I know...you don't have time to mess with a temp guage. I just think maybe your not running as hot as you might need to be. I think when they rate these 2X6's they must really have them cranking. Hang in there!
One of the guys passed some info on to me about a MemProTech ro, marketed by L.S. Bilodeau in quebec. Sounds like a good machine and priced reasonably at 4700 cdn for the 100gph model or 6700 for the 200gph model. I am thinking on it and hope to do something by next spring.

Jumpin jack rabbits if you got to run your stack at 1200 you had better get and evap designed and built by Patrick Phanuef. That is a lot of waste heat going up the pipe.

Nothing like fighting with bad wood trying to get a good boil going. When my stack is at 500 that rig is just humming. I can push it to 600 but it don't make much difference.

I think, but I'm not sure that the Leader WSE is a budget priced evap and that the flues are a bit shallower than a full blown 2 x 6. If I recall when when I was looking before Christmas, they were about 5 or 5 1/2" deep. Some 2x6 come with 7 1/2" flues. More surface area = more GPH.
I don't think you're doing bad for that rig. I think you could certainly get more
out of it with better draft and higher temps, a pre-heater or a steamaway. But I think it is undersized for 800 taps.
A lot of "I thinks"

Do you have a flue brush to clean the soot out? That, I believe, makes a little diference too. We clean ours every day.
Glenn goodrich once said 700-800 was an ideal stack temp. But ours just doesn't get much work done at that temp. I'm going to have to ask what temp they rate these things at.

A 3x8 properly fired with dry wood should give you 60 GPH.

I get 85 -90 GPH. I have a preheater & hood. My wife says that I insulated it to good because the SH is cold. I made 74 gallons this year and used 4-1/2 face cords of wood.

what size should i get for 1500 taps
Is this 1500 with or with out an RO?
I would go 4x12 and if you get more taps then you could add a preheater and still be good to go.
