anyone experimented with making a shop-built stainless round bottom tank?
needs to be reasonibly portable so we can take it down and set back up each year.

thinking somewhere between 250-350 gals.

what gauge stainless? 18-22 ga? seams?

was considering a wood frame to save $$, but not sure how heavy it would get.

also thinking of taking a skin out of a milk tank and making a frame, but not sure how heavy that might get...

any input appreciated....

If the weight is the problem dont put a frame under the tank liner. If you take the tank out in the woods and set it in the dirt dig it in a little it wont tip over. Now I wouldnt put it on cement. Liners are great just dont cut to much off the lip of the tank. there is that part of the lip that adds alot of the strenth. alot of the new style tanks are already doubble wall on the bottom becuse of the refrideration coils are made with a second skin.
