Well, my red maples tapped out this week (in southern NH) wrapping up my first sugaring season. I made about a gallon. I feel a little like a 5-year-old after a birthday passes, and realizing the season is over. I had so many other things I wanted to try, and it even crossed my mind to seek out spare sap from others willing to "lend" it--I think I have "the bug!"
I have enjoyed this "new activity" that perfectly fills the void in season between skiing and apples [and yard work, boating and fishing, etc]!
Now the trick to keep the focus designing and building equipment for next year!
