We couldn't find any caustic soda anywhere so I tried a soap rinse. Flushed with about 40 gallons and re-started.

They were dumping permeate at about 15 - 17 gallons an hour. ..... again.

I guess cleaning is important.

Tonight you'll find me boiling in the sugar shack and sitting in the corner with a paper bag over my head.

It is good to see everything working well, and cleaning is very important as you have found out. I probably clean more than 90 percent of the sugarmakers, but we concentrate more than 90 percent too.

We always do a daily backwash on our 600 GPH CDL RO with about 550 gallons of permeateand the membrane soap. The membrane has been used 5 seasons so after last year we sent it back to CDL for them to do a year end cleaning and sugar test - I can only hope my kids get grades like the membrane got from the factory! Maintenance goes a long way.
