Well I collected 210 gal of clear %1.5 sap today.

Thinking about dumping it and calling it a season. Its hard to justify boiling at 57:1 . With my rig getting about 21/hr with a 1.75/hr nozzel.

At about three hours/gal it would be hard to stay motivated.

Now if I had an Merlin hobby RO and could get the sap to %5 or %6 I would be a happy boiler.

Any thoughts?

Anybody close to Troy want some sap?

Mine are now running about 1.4 to 1.5 also. Earlier in the season it was 2.2 and occasionally a little higher. Even with the RO I might not run the 60 or so gallons I have now. Collected yesterday AM and it started to look a little cloudy this AM. What's in the buckets this AM looks clear but LOTS of bugs and leaf debris from the high winds last night. Wouldn't mind some darker syrup but just don't want to end up with off flavor stuff.

2 years ago, my ratio was 57 to 1 for the entire season. Count your blessing you haven't had that the entire year. I couldn't believe it, but if I wanted to make syrup, that's what I had to deal with.
