Today was my last boil for the year. What little sap I collected yesterday was really yellow-almost orange and I have a lot of budding going on. I boiled off 75 gallons last night and today for a total of 8.75 gallons of syrup this year. While boiling today I got all the buckets and spiles washed, dried, and stored. Got the pans cleaned and almost everything put away. All that's left is to clean the ash from the evaporator. Now I can think about trout season. Pancakes and venison sausage for breakfast tomorrow!!

Dan, Good job:) . I've made about the same amount of syrup. Hate to end but today will be my last day boiling maple. My sugars have no sign of budding. About a 1/3 of my trees are reds though and buds are coming along. 3, 50degree days coming

Good luck trout fishing.

Gary, About half or my 36 taps are Reds. They are budding pretty well here. There wasn't even any weeping from any of the tap holes today.
