Cool is better than too hot! We're boiling today for the first time this season. Only twice over the past 20 years have we started later.

Ennismaple- What are you using for an evaperator to process that much sap and what kind of gph are you getting? I was also wondering if you are running the one membrane with your ro or did you go two. I was kind of thinking of addding some taps down the road and wasnt sure what Id need for equipment to process that much sap. Theron

Theron,
I've got a CDL 600 expandable that I added a second tower to. I'm getting better than 1000 per hour.
Were hoping to get in on some of those killer runs. Just high enough in elevation that we just don't get the runs yet. Made right at 900 so far.
Have fun!

New Hope- You guys are doing great so far with that much syrup. When you say you are doing a 1000. You mean between the conc and the perm together you are doing 1000 gallons per hour? So if you concentrate to 8% youd have 250 sweet and 750 of perm per hour? What do you use to boil and how fast is that? Theeron

Moose - How many taps have you got? Buckets? Gravity? Vacuum?
Theron - We've also got a single membrane 600 GPH CDL RO. It produces about 200 GPH of concentrate which our old 5x14 can't quite keep up to. Days when we get 4000+ gallons of sap we'll boil for up to 10 hours and can make up to 10 GPH of syrup if we fire hard and the sugar content is good.
