I think he means a drop tube. I have a friend that made one and he used 1" copper pipe about 5" long. He flared one end so he could get it to fit tight in the hole he drilled the solder it. on the bottom of the tubes he solder on 1" caps. I have not seen it work yet but he says it boils great. I hope this is what you were looking for.

Your pan looks great, how much evaporation do you get from that pan? What size is the pan?

I don't use them since I got my 2x6. I have made three of them and they are all still in use around here.

With a blower on my block arch I could dow about 15 gph with two of these and two other steam table pans. I'd guess 2/3 of the evaporation came from the drop tube pans, so about 5 gph per drop tube, steam table pan if fired hard with forced air combustion. I think these were 12x20x6 stainless steam table pans.
