I have just started in the sap fun and currently have 10 trees with 22 taps cooking on a turkey fryer. Great fun but slow boiling down. Anyway my question is that my neighbor has 3 red maples right next door in his yard, I have looked quite a ways back in the past post but could not find anywhere if red maples would change the taste if mixxing in sugar maple sap to boil together. I do not want to try on my own and figured someone out there would know the answer to this. Any help or the pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Brian

My personal opinion is that reds add flavor to maple syrup. I tap around 300 and they do great. The one in front of my saphouse tested 2.5% yesterday.

Mix them all together. The only thing to watch on Reds is later in the season, they will bud earlier than the sugars. When they but stop using the Reds.

I have 220 taps on reds. No sugars in my area. The syrup is fantastic. I also tend to get a nice 6 week season with good production. Tap em!
