If i hit 224 on a draw off is this too far gone, i mixed it with some thin sap, is that worth while or am i destine for rock candy?

What did it test with the hydrometer? I would bet it is OK.

test came in around 70 cold test on the hydrometer i think i've gotten this info from Mountainvan before .9oz of water per pound of maple syrup at 70 brix?

Just add water or hot sap to thin it out. As long as it isn't scorched it will be ok. If it is scorched it is still good for commercial syrup. Don't throw it away.

Just dilute to syrup or your cold test on your hydrometer at room temperature and it will be fine.

Dilute the syrup with boiling water after the fact. That way you're not putting any microorganisms back into the syrup.
