How much snow do you have

I was just wondering how much snow does every one else have in the bush here in Peterborough ON Canada I have 2 feet in the bush and 18 inches on the field.

To much. I was just out plowing and I would have to say that we got about the same.

I would say in the fields we are about 24" and the woods has to be 3'. There are some areas in the woods with more than that. I know I stepped thru the crust enough. I have some main line that normally I duck under it when walking thru and now it is setting on the snow.
This does not include the 6"+ that we have already this morning and it is still coming down at a good clip.

I have about 4'+ in the woods. I just got back from digging out some lines that are up to my chest when dry. Still snowing out, about 8-10" scence last night. This is crazy!!!

I'm a few towns north of Tucker at about 1400 ft elevation. we're knocking on 5ft after 8 inches today. I've been out stomping paths on my snowshoes for a week now so I can get to my lines. Some taps in today. Hope to get the rest in tomorrow. Supposed to be 40 degrees on Monday.

Well we've got 3'-4' in northern ma., 6 mi. from Vt. @ elavation 700'. I looked on the NOAA snow map sight and they haven't updated yet from todays snow but the above nomal from the high terrain in ma. on up through Vt. and Nh. is anywhere from 16" to 30" = above normal!Snow water equivalents are as high as 12" of standing water in high elavation and northern Ct. river basin. I work @ a hydro station on the Ct. River in Ma.,could be an interesting spring freshet! Does anyone know what the river ice is like up north?

I've got enough so that I had to bend down to tap some of the trees this afternoon. I can also step down onto the window sill of the sugar house as I walk by with my hand of the roof. The walls are 8' high!

With all this snow in the Northeast this late in the winter you all know what is likely to happen when spring really does arrive? Ok with a PMA we'll all be bass fishing on our front lawns!

We only ended the day with a good 7" new snow. It turned really wet at the end. This winter we have been just close enough to the coast to get some rain or real wet snow on many storms which have kept our totals down from just a few miles inland. News tonight ran a story on Aroostook county (far northern Maine). they usually get lots of snow but this year they are over 150" and March is a huge snow month for them. NWS said they have a shot at 200". This is an area that has no lake effect snow nor is it a mountainous region.

If we had that kind of snow I would definitly give up sugar making. Right now I believe I have about 3 or 4 inches Most of that should melt over the next 2 days.

Yes, but that really keeps the trees from waking up during warm weather. Makes for a long, but productive season if you can stand it.

I only have 16" on the ground in the woods and that all came in less than the last 2 weeks. This is better than the 4' I had to tap in for 04. I have only had to plow to my sugarhouse 2 times all winter (but I do use 4 wheel drive to avoud plowing) Most years I run out of places to push it. I plowed once in Dec and again yesterday. I do prefer some snow cover but you can have the 4', 5', 6'+.

We've probably got an average of 2.5' to 3' in the bush. I told my father a few weeks ago if he didn't stop filling up the sugar bush with the white crap I'd quit. Looks like he called my bluff cause we've got more! Tonight's rain should help knock it down some.

I got into a few places yesterday that I couldn't get through. You had to turn around and try somewhere else or you'd have to stop, drop and roll!

How many gallons is the tank that you have on it?

It's just a 125 gallon, which means multiple trips to and from the woods. The tank was actually sized for our Polaris Ranger, but it fits great on the Tucker. I'm not sure I would want to put much more weight than that on it anyway.

Well I just got in from measuring how much snow we got so far to day and we have got 13.5" of snow now it has bin a Wight out all day and still is so I will have to see how much more we have tomorrow morning.

I've never seen as much snow in the bush as we've got this year! My parents say it's not as bad as one winter in the early 70's. That year they claimed you could snowmobile anywhere because the rail fences were covered and you could drive over them! I'm not looking forward to putting in over 4000 taps using snowshoes!!!!

I have not been out yet, only looked out the window and we must have gotten one foot last night. I will be plowing most of the day. My buckets are all hung but ist going to be a bit before we can het to them.

Ok the grand total of the snow we got last night is 18" we also had some thunder and lightning a few times. I have never heard of that in a snowstorm.
so I just got in from plowing and the roads have drifted so bad that the snow plows cant move it. I am posting so pictures right now.

I think I will move to your area. Last night we got a foot and we are only 150 mile from one and other. I plowed for 3 hours this morning and now I got 3 more hours tomorrow just getting to the sugarhouse. I don't expect to see any sap until the 20th. If anyone should ever have a snowblower this was the year for it.

We got about 18 inches here, with 2-3 ft drifts. Suffice to say the city basically shut down for a day. I was supposed to boil on Saturday but had to cancel. Looks like I'll be boiling on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then again on Saturday if the sap keeps flowing.

We don't get enough snow here to justify it, but a snow blower sure would have been nice. I think I'll be on advil for the next week after shoveling all of that!

Ottawa is up to 410 cm (13'6") and may surpass their record of 445cm before the first day of spring. Our farm is about an hour west of Ottawa so we're likely close to that amount in our sugar bush, My father plows about 40 driveways for neighbours and has spent close to 60 hours plowing this week. He plowed a road to one of our Zero tanks on Thursday and it took him 3.5 hrs to go 200 yards! He's using a 4-wheel drive rubber tire backhoe so he can do more than a pickup truck but when it's that deep you're limited in what you can do. We've got our work cut out for us to tap this week!

Sometimes I wish that I had passed on sugaring this year. I was out last night checking buckets and as I was walking I was thinking hey this snow isn't so bad. The next step I went all the way to the bottom and then I was a believer again. It must be near onto 3 feet or better. The Amish people around here will have a hard time with there horses. Lets all hope that it goes down fast.

Strong like bull - smart like tractor! We got our last bunch of lines up before we got the 2 blasts of snow last week so it was only 3 feet deep at the time! I'm starting to tap tomorrow. It took my father all day yeasterday to plow out our roads in the sugar bush. Hopefully the warmth of the sun and the bit of rain they're calling for on Friday drop the snow enough that we don't have to dig all of our lines out! Anyone who needs some snow is welcome to come take all they want!

We're about 20km northwest of Perth so we're about 60km from Merrickville.

When we first started March 3rd we had about 4 to 5 feet in the woods since then it has compacted to about 2-3 feet. luckly it compacted enough for the tractor to more or less just drive through.
