Ok so call me STUPID.... When, where how?

On Ebay I see a steel box with a toliet tank valve and so I guess once the ball floats the tanks drains. Or once the ball floats the tank stops draining.

or might do something else......???

This device was suggested to me as to get one. I am working up a pre heater from a pot, and my way was to get heated sap to flow up hill off the smoke stack.

A full pot will fill a copper tubing as high as the level in the pot. Add heat to the tubbing by way of wrapping it around the hot stack and sap should run up hill.

I figured then gravity would take over and the copper tubing would spit the hot sap into the pan.

It seems there are some details I am missing..

this is how a float box works
it is hooked up to the pan and you set your level on the valve and as sap comes in and filles up the pan the ball lifts the valve and slows down the flow and when the ball is up to the level you set it at the vavle closes and stops the flow
