What have I gotten into this time????????????????? I joined the local antique tractor club yesterday. My daughter belongs ('crawler chick' or 'leggs' on Red Power) and son- in laws (Dr Ernie) family were founding memebers,oh well good family time and lots of tractors and other skills of the past. Here come the interesting part. This year for the tractor show and fall education day they want to make sorghum molasses. Well you make maple syrup you can be on the sorghum committee. I'm really lack any know how and there is very little that I can find on the net. I'm hoping that some of the southern Maple Traders can set up some connections for me. HELP!!! Can anybody help me out with some good info. They say they have a 14 ft arch but does this stuff act like syrup in the pan? is there a suger gradiant? do you use a flat pans or flues what? When is it done ? brix ? See there so much to learn before August or April when we need to plant the seed. If you are interested in show info its the Mid Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association (MMOGTA) Thanks for the help. Herb You can pm me with phone #s and I will call to ask questions

Firetech,
I know they make sorghum in KY, just not sure when or how. I will try to find some info for you. I think they make it in September or October, but will try to hook you up with a producer.

That's a pretty neat video, but **** that's a slow operation. But, then again, how fast does sap drip? What else can a guy boil in the North East in the off season? (Other than wieners?) Does sorghum degrade like maple sap?
