Probably lack of demand and possibly poor sales.

BAP is likely correct, when manufaturers make too little, they drop items.
Try other hang tags in other industries, I know for one thing, hang tags are still used, in fact I recently bought 2x3" wire attached hang tags that I use to lable my bulk syrup in 5 gal jugs. When I open a 40 gal barrel, or even a 26.5 gal one, I don't usually pack the entire amount at once, I often pump 5, 10 or 15 gal into 5 gal jugs, lebel it for grade (specifically the % of light transmission) and label each jug. As I pump it, it gets filtered, so usually when I need more of a grade, I can just pour in into the bottler, heat it, retest density and light transmission (LT) using my Hanna checker and bottle it. Reheating generally drops the LT 2-4%. To label those jugs I use blank hang tags that I write the LT and the date packed. My tags have a fine wire attached. I think I bought them thru Amazon.
If you go a similar route you will likely want to get labels to place on the blank tags. I never used hang tags, prefering all info stuck to the container. I use label guns, I have 1, 2 and 3 line guns
