could there potentially be a problem if the internal pump on my electric releaser doesn't shut off? the sap is comming in fast enough today that it isn't allowing the sap level in the releaser to get low enough to trip the pump off. is the pump fine to run constantly if there is liquid/sap going through it? or if it's constantly running, would that burn it out or make it malfunction??

They are submersible pumps that are designed to be cooled by the water or in our case the sap they are submerged in. Pump will be fine. There is enough cool sap comming in to keep the liquid in the releaser cool.
It would Probley trip the breaker if it overheated.
It’s actually better for the motor in the pump to stay on then cycle on and off every 30 seconds or so.

As long as it is pumping out the sap fast enough so there isn't a backup of sap into the moisture trap or back up the lines you'll be OK. If those things happen, check to see if there is an internal filter or screen of some sort on the pump that needs to be cleaned.

What time said, but also look for leaks on the releaser, it's common for a leak to make the pump air bound.

Thanks guys. the pump worked just fine. once the sap slowed down last night it went back to working as i'm normally used to it working. it was by far the hardest i've ever seen my trees run. i think it was just running hard enough that it was constantly keeping just enough sap in the releaser so the bottom sensor was never dry so it just didn't kick the pump off. i really appreciate the responses and helpful info. thank you!
