As a follow up to my tank cleaning question, im wondering if there is good source for the 2" fittings needed to connect a ball valve to the bulkhead? Specifically, im trying to get down to a 1" male thread so I can hook up my water pump. I've struck out at Tractor Supply and the local feed n seed (which doubles as our maple supplier)...

If you can't find it locally, go to Hamby Dairy Supply, call 816-449-1314. Tell them what make milk tank you have and they almost always have the adapter, or another source, who have some but not nearly as many, call Eastern Crown 315-829-3505. Another I used many years ago is Fisher Farms, 315-697-7039. At least one of those should be able to help you.

If anyone has it, Hamby will. If not, the can have one made. Mentally prepare yourself sticker shock but they will have it.

Thanks for the replies, I should clarify that when I said "bulk tank" I mean it is a plastic 450 gallon "truck tank" not a stainless steel dairy tank. I am having to install a plastic, threaded bulkhead and it appears the correct size is for a 2" internal thread.
I can't even find the right ball valve to fit that size much less a reducer or adapter to step down to 1" thread for my water pump to hook to. I feel like I must be missing something obvious, from my (hobby sugarer) POV this seems like a fairly standard size setup.

When i did my 55 gallon drums a few years ago I was able to get a 2" pvc threaded nipple, couple, ball valve, and pipe from a local hardware store. I was having trouble uploading a better photo but see below. I have to imagine a hardware store near you has this stuff in stock. I got mine from Phillips hardware in Guilderland.

Sounds like a 2" bulkhead fitting....I think Norwesco ones can include the 90 degree siphon tube so you get more out of the tank. Is it a Norwesco tank?

There are many options to adapt an IBC tote to a threaded connection.
Amazon had IBC tote adaptors. I have 4 of them connected to my permeate tanks no was able to get them in 1 1/4 at the time but not sure if they have that size still.
Some IBC tanks are threaded on the inside but still use a 2” regular camlock attachment for the outside connection. This is the best way to connect them. Easy to take off to clean.
Google IBC tote adaptor and you will get lots of options.

Google IBC tote adaptor and you will get lots of options. Yes, IBC totes are no problem and I've also used the quick lock style connector with those.
This is a 425 gallon Norwesco style tank, which I've fitted a 2" bulkhead fitting to but, for some reason, I am striking out on finding the correct combination of threaded reducers, nipples, and ball valves to create a connection that I can open and close and adapt to a 1" hose line (as I would with the cam lock on my IBCs).
I must not be doing a very good job of describing my issue because the solutions suggested have all been right on for the tanks described but not my situation.
To be clear it's one of these style tanks...I am half-tempted to just sell it at this point as I already am collecting sap into my usual 275 gallon IBC tote: https://www.ntotank.com/425gallon-norwesco-white-pickup-truck-bed-tank-x9017495?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD-a9kV6kOc4Ch96ywgsOfTY6S4ny&gclid=CjwKCAiA5pq-BhBuEiwAvkzVZRZxfIGO2Kv-SGjAedHSlq-o1BAnqlkA7kC9FQjBMXM_Uqbuz45gehoCgAYQAvD_BwE

What fitting is on the end(s) of your 1" hoses?
So, you're looking for 2"-1" reducing bushing

1" nipples
https://www.amazon.com/Banjo-NIP100-SH-Polypropylene-Fitting-Schedule/dp/B0079JXSTK
and 1" ball valves

I recently adapted some tanks from 2-1" and went with 1" camlock couplings. Good prices on fittings and selection here. I went mostly poly...

Home depot or lowes will have what you need in PVC. Get a 2" male threaded fitting and then the reducers or bushings to get you to a 1" ball valve. then what ever fitting you need for your pump.

Go to a maple equipment dealer. Most all carry the fittings you need. They are just NPT, not a special thread.

FWIW, I have found Menards to be quite lacking in 2" stuff. Plenty of slip PVC, but very little NPT. 1" seems ok though.

I think I figured it out, I was able to find a 2" to 1 and 1/4" reducer at a farm supply near my work, then I found a second reducer to 1" female threaded. I have two pieces of threaded 1" PVC pipe ends and I'm going to plumb those together and screw on one of my 1" ball valves I already. Seems like A LOT of steps down to the size I need but oh well.
