Goulds LB1012 Guide Vane

At RO startup, I wasn't able to build enough pressure to start the RO. Took the feed pump cover off and found the vane guide (plastic) was shattered. I'm not sure why they put a plastic part . in their...seems like an easy failure point. Look online, and it seems to be a replaceable part since it's available for about $40.

Has this happened to anyone else, and have you replaced it?

Is there another pump option that doesn't have a plastic part in the pump housing?

Goulds NPE series pumps ( used in CDL RO’s ) do no not have any plastic parts in their pump housings.

Thanks. Today, I should know if I can get replacement parts for my pump and make a decision from there.
