In the construction of my new flue pan to keep from having a ton of welding I can have the flues bent out of a single piece, However with the dies available I can only do a triangular shape instead of square on the bottom. Is this bad idea or will this give me a decent outcome. I am looking for better evap. rate over flat pan but, I dont have the money for new manufactured flue pan. Thank you.

I think it would work. Why not? As long as it meets the goal of increasing the surface area of the pan.

Just watch out for tight corners that are tough to clean.

While I was at a show up in NY I saw a set of pans that had just what you are talking about. Each drop flue had a point to them instead of a flat bottom, if you can understand what I am trying to say.

The left side of the pic is what I saw with flat bottoms and the right side is what I saw that had what you are talking about.

I think there is risk of the sap getting too hot and carmelizing then burning.

It would depend on the profile at the bottom. The sharper the angle the more surface area to fluid and higher risk.
