My base stack pipe is splitting at the seam. Have a new one on the way. I assume I’ll have to break the seal at the roofline and raise the entire stack pipe in order to remove the old base stack and install the new one. I have a good seal now and am reluctant to break it. Are there any other options besides raising the entire stack pipe?

What size is your stack up above the base stack? You could likely get an extendable section, I've seen those used for indoor woodstoves. They are a length of stack with an extendable section inside the outer. A regular tin shop can make one if you have a tin shop near by. Just tell them how much you want to be able to extend it. Get it made out of SS if the rest of your stack is SS otherwise I suggest 22 ga galvanized. When you install it, you need to use at least 3 screws at about 1/3 around from one to the next, and to the third to keep it extended properly.
