My new CDL Venturi has a pan level sight glass on both the flu pan and the front syrup pan.
The sight glass on the flu pan has a 3 way valve that lets me drain just the sight glass without draining the whole pan.
The front syrup pan sight glass just has a regular ball valve on it. So when open it just drains the front pan. No way to just drain the sight glass.

I was thinking of replacing the front sight glass ball valve with a 3 way valve just like the rear pan so I could drain the sight glass when there was a freeze up expected. Don’t think I’ve ever had the front pan freeze solid. But I don’t want to take the chance of breaking the glass.
It’s amazing that
They wouldn’t just put the 3 way there too as well right from the factory. Over 20k for the evaporator and they skimp out on an extra $10 for a valve.

That’s a good point. I like idea of a 3 way on the flue pan although I doubt the syrup pan would freeze solid, and if so would only be an inch or two and not much of a threat to the glass.
Sounds like a nice evaprator! Good luck this season.
