Glad we made the early tapping decision again this year. Caught a nice run over the last three days.......160, 195 + 404 gal. Not happy about the sugar content though, running avg. of 1.5%. I wonder if that's a result of our never ending 2023 rain. First boil was Friday, and after crunching the 355 to 8%, we barely drew off about 1 gal. after sweetening the pan. Longer boil yesterday, and drew off about 7 gal. Golden.
All four Shurflo's are chugging away. Seeing around 21" on the 3/16 tubing runs; and up to 25" on the mainline. Warm day yesterday, so I expect collection will be a lot lower today. Coming up on an extended cold snap this week; probably going to grind to a halt for a few days.
Overall, good start to the season. Hope everyone is off and running.

Glad to see you're off and running strong. What type of r.o are you using? I'm finishing the last of the 1200 gals that came in. The pump is still bringing it in at 1.40 percent on the reds and our sugars are around 2 percent. Been some long nights lately lol

solid start for you. Seeing about the same sugar content here in Hudson. 1.5-1.7 or so at this point. Keep chugging away. Looks like a break coming up after tomorrow.

Nextgen 1x40 RO that I've added a second post, and bypass. Pairing up nice with my new Smoky Lake 2x4 hybrid pan. The second membrane and adding in the bypass has made a huge difference. I'm sending a 100 gal batch through just to get up and running so I can light the fire. With the present setup, I'm sending 8% up to the head tank in 15-20 minutes. Nice.

After a 10 day break between runs; looks like we're about to get back to it. Collected 210 gal. on Saturday morning, and processed it yesterday. Season total is at just shy of 20 gal. - all Amber.
Higher temps starting today. Should be a great week. Tubing on vacuum should run well........maybe even the buckets will start to flow. Good luck all.
Thanks, Bill

Saw a huge two day run mid-week and then the brakes went on.......again.
2/27 - 402
2/28 - 441
Overall, still ahead of last year at 2,542 gals collected, mostly 1.4-1.6%.
Looks like another two day run starting today. Then another warm spell.............yeesh. Not sure what to make of this weather. Good luck to all.
Thanks, Bill

Holding on for dear life here. Yesterday, collected and processed 136 gallons of 1% that has been barely dribbling in from the last couple of days. Normally I wouldn't bother with 1%, but I needed to reheat the evaporator. Ended up with 2 gallons of very dark. This dreadful season is just about wrapped. I am at 68% production vs. last year. Forecasting soft freezes later this upcoming week. Maybe we can make a last stand and eke out a few more gallons.
Thanks, Bill

Definitely worth hanging in there for another week or so. Thinking back to a few years ago before i bought my RO when boiling 1 -1.5% raw sap was my normal situation. It's a lot more manageable now and still worth the firewood. At this point, sap is sap.

Hope you get a good last week before you call it quits.
