there are a bunch of different wall thicknesses of black poly waterline. speaking from experience, go with the thinest wall u can, the thicker wall is for higher presures and is a huge pain in the A to work with to straighten out and keep straight. it will expand and contract on your wire making it look like a snake when it gets in the sun.
for what its worth, we started with black poly (heavy duty stuff used for underground utilities) when we first started out and have since switched everything to the blue maple mainline.

I use 100 psi black poly that Goodrich's sell, I like the black because it thaws out the main lines faster.

I use black poly pipe from menards. Seems to be the same stuff the dealers sell. Just make sure you get water potable pipe because that's food grade/nsf approved. I get the 100 psi stuff, no need to go heavy-duty since it's above ground and cost more. Only down side is when purchasing it I have to have the local menards special order it which takes about a week to get. I don't mind using the black pipe because my woods has little slope so at times my lines will have sap that freezes in it so it thaws quicker then the blue line.
