I posted this subject also on the Maine Season thread.

Last summer's maple foliage was horrible. Not universally, but I feel pretty near so wherever I went in Maine. By online images I diagnosed the leaf condition as anthracnose, probably exacerbated by the intense humidity present last summer. Not immediately life threatening to the tree, but it sure did a number on the leaves. By fall some trees were partially defoliated in my yard and elsewhere. Tons of crumpled spotted brown leaves.

Whatever it was, are there any tapping considerations for this season? Did anyone else see this? Thoughts? Thanks in advance for any info.

I would say tap away!
Just stick to good tapping guidelines.
The tapping "load" is mainly the wound, and the tapping guidelines are all about keeping the wounds negligible for the tree for decades of yearly tapping.
