No, the biggest factor affecting sap flow is the weather during the season. Last year was a good example for my area. We had a generally mild December and January. Like this year, I was working in shirtsleeves. Then the weather was perfect for sugaring from early Feb to late March. My season was 42 days last year. That's the longest one ever for me. I had a record year, but 50 miles north or west of here, it was a different story. A few years ago, sap flowed for 21 days for me. March was like April and that was all she wrote.
