Suggestions Please.

I built a sap transfer pump with manifold to move sap/permeate/waste aroung the sugar shack.

I had an ecoworthy diaphram pump, but it quickly died today due to what I think was contunuous flow and burnout.

https://www.amazon.com/ECO-WORTHY-Industrial-Diaphragm-Irrigation-Sprinkler/dp/B0BB9M2TS8/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?crid=3759F5O4LQBZV&keywords=exoworthy%2Bpump%2B120v%2Bdiaphragm&qid=1702782934&sprefix=exoworthy%2Bpump%2B120v%2Bdiaphram%2Caps%2 C91&sr=8-1-fkmr1&th=1

I now need to find a proper pump to run sap through 1/2' pex. The pump needs to be self priming, ability to pull about 6 feet of head, and run off 120V.

Assuming I'm pulling from an IBC storage tank to a 100 gallon head tank, it would need to have flow rate and ability to run contnuously to not die on its first outing...

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Bryan

Hi Bryan - have you thought about using a 4008 shurflo? They are about same price and proven to be pretty reliable for continuous use.

Thanks Dan.

Good point. I will have an extra 4008 as I'm going to run a 4048 on the vac side this season with the extra taps I've added.
My only concern with the 4008 is the max flow of 3gpm.

I've used an Everflo for sap transfer from the bush up to the shack with great results.

Unfortunately I cant find this in 120VAC which is how the shed and switches are wired.

I like the 7GPM rating of the Everflo as it will fill the head tanks in 15 min versus 35.

Good point on flowrate difference. Have you considered using that pump with a 12v power supply rated for 400 Watts / 33 Amps?

Something like this: https://a.co/d/fY5e25I

That'll work on 120 AC and only draw about 3 amps max on the ac circuit. You'll need that size transformer as that pump draws 23 amps max on 12vdc.

Good timing... I just ordered a 500 watt 12vdc transformer and will see how well it runs the Everflo.
If it works well I'll buy another 5.5 or 7.0gpm and be done with it.

How do you mount your diaphram pumps, head up, or head down? Does it matter?

your transformer will do just fine. I have used one to run my 12v pump from 120v for a few years and it works great. Can't remember my brand.
