Hi all,

I知 sure some of you have seen the leader video on bricking the arch.
I知 curious to know who has used the FBX Board, or insulated board under half bricks and if so how you liked the setup.

Lastly, where can one source the FBX or similar board?

Thanks

Bryan

My Vision has the board under the bricks, and I highly recommend this approach. Keep as much heat as possible under your pans. It also keeps the sides of my arch relatively cool compared to when I had an arch with just fire brick. You can source the board online - just do a quick search.

Is there a preferred type of board or size?
The only things I've seen online are small/thin and expensive.
I'll poke around the webs some more.

I'd shoot for 1" thick minimum. And yes, it's spendy stuff. But worth it, in my opinion because it also saves your arch steel. My arch is stainless sheet and still as shiny as the day I installed it, which I can't say for my old arch that was galvanized and was lined with only 1/2 thick brick. So, you need to also consider the investment of the insulation in relation to the cost of a new arch over the long run.

I have the insulation board with 1/2s and find it works great.

any of the maple syrup dealers carry the insulation boards. your best bet is to use the 1'' board .that is what i used on my vision, and you'll not be sorry latter on.

With either the 1/2" or 1" fiber board, did you then use full or 1/2 brick?

I'm guessing with 1" board I would be fine with 1/2 brick (thin brick).

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Bryan

i also used the 1'' insulation board on my vision, make sure to use the half size brick you don't want to reduce the size of the fire box.
