Every year I keep daily detailed kitchen notes on items such as how much sap collected, sugar percent, how much wood used, how much syrup made and how much water removed with the RO. And every year after adding everything up I am always in awe at how much water my RO can remove from the sap we collect.
For example in the 2023 season I collected ~6550 gallons of sap over the season and removed removed ~5300 gallons of water with RO. So out of the 6550 gallons of sap collected I only boiled ~1250 on the evaporator! And if I work backwards with some rough math, not having to boil 5300 gallons at ~40 gph on my 2x6 evap I am saving over 132 hours of evaporator time as well as a massive amount of firewood savings!
I love RO!!
