I was wondering if anyone has found a cheaper alternative to RO Bucket Membranes?
I got the 10gph membranes which were $75 each, is there a cheaper option?
Thank you!

The housings are pretty standard and there are tons of less expensive membranes on ebay and amazon; but there's plenty of benefits in keeping the RO bucket operation viable for as long as possible.

Having bought 3 units from Carl (RB 20, then upgraded to a RB25, then another RB25, then a 2post 4x40) I can say it’s not worth shopping around. They source all their parts with value in mind, and cheaper is never better in good food grade equipment. Clean them like the manual says, and spend the money when you wear them out.

Carl is amazing - his customer service is impeccable. He has called me before on weekends, responded to countless emails, and his prices and quality are excellent. I continue to patronize his company. To search around on the net for a few cheaper membranes simply isn’t worth it.
You won’t find any better customer service than Carl
Good luck sugaring

The ro bucket membranes are already cheap household membranes. If you want results and a membrane that’s designed to do what we do get one from nitto hydraunics.
Just because you can find a cheaper membrane somewhere, doesn’t mean that it will do a good job. Not all membranes are created equally. Carl has taken the time to test and find out what the best performance equipment for the lowest cost possible is.

Thanks for all the insight! I've spoken with Carl too, great guy. I'll keep supporting him

rsellick,
I'm not sure what your issue is with our membranes, but thousands of customers have used them for several years with phenomenal results. I would hardly call them "cheap household membranes". As far as I know Nitto no longer makes residential membranes, so it would be difficult sourcing them there.
Our membranes are literally designed to "do what we do" and they get "results". Pulling water out of sap isn't rocket science, but our membranes have exceptional anti fouling properties and performance at low temperature.

I don't think he wants to do what you do.
But let us know what you're using for RO when you have 7500 taps and something that somewhat resembles a real sugarbush or at least a real Vermonter.

Thank you for getting this thread back on track and addressing the OP's questions. To summarize:
The OP should throw away his RO bucket and buy a bigger RO so that he can buy nitto hydraunics (spelled: Nitto Hydranautics). Because Nitto doesn't make them for his RO Bucket.
We all should move to Vermont and try and resemble a real Vermonter.
Make sure Sugar Bear has an equipment list when you reach 7500 taps.
Eat a lot of Ben and Jerry's.
