We have a 2X4 leader WSE evap. Do most folks finish the syrup in the evap or take off almost syrup and finish it elsewhere?
I take off a little lite and finish on an induction heater. Just have better control that way. I boil on a leader vermonter all in one pan.

Tom,
I had a Leader Half Pint for 2 years before I got the 2x6. Other than the increase in wood box I'd guess they run pretty similar.
I used to take syrup off that rig all the time, it was easier to be a bit heavy and thin, than to be light and reheat.
With the Half Pint I had a 0-7 thermometer and would check draws with a cup and hydrometer when the temp got to 7 degrees.
If I was light, I'd put it back in and hold until temp hit 8 over. Some days 7 was the number - other days it might be 9, but once I had it figured out it was fairly simple to do.
Due to the smaller draws on a rig like the 2x4, drawing off a bit heavy was a time saver in the end and I think made better - and lighter - syrup as a result of not reheating.
Just keep a good eye on the thermometer and be ready to draw and test often, it's not that hard.
Good luck this season.
