I have a Shurflo 5059 with no suction. Based on a fix that worked on my filter press diaphragm pump, I broke down the pump and cleaned it up. There wasn't much gunk in it, the check valve seems to have good action on it, and the diaphragm appears intact. Still no suction. This is a powerful Shurflo, so it should really grab onto my palm even when dry.
I did find a spill of black grease? in the box under the pump. The grease was all over the bottom two round heads behind the diaphragm. It was also wet under the diaphragm where the motor shaft is. Sap must have gotten behind the head, I'm guessing. I cleaned up the grease paying special attention to the areas where things are sealed, making sure they are flat and clean.
I'm not sure what to try next.
This is my first time sharing photos through Google. Let me know if they don't work.
