Has anyone had any luck mitigating the noise from diaphragm type RO pumps? My pump is seriously ruining my sugar house vibe. I have only a small space to work in and I like having the RO close by to keep an eye on it anyway. People who visit find it off-putting. Are Procon type pumps any quieter?
I ran my RO Bucket the other day when it was in the up 20’s and I wrapped it up in an old comforter to keep it from freezing. That worked plus it muffled the noise quite a bit.

Not a quick solution but maybe an off-season project, I build a cabinet for mine. With the doors closed it’s much quieter and a small heat source keeps it from freezing. It will be wall mounted when I get around to it.

No clue why the second picture is sideways.

Similar to 82cabby's awesome cabinet, I have mine inside a cooler. Keeps the noise down and has a heat source to prevent freezing.

That too is super awesome. Do you find it cumbersome to access the membrane canisters for maintenance?

No not at all - it's easy to change the pre-filter and i only go into the membrane housings when needed (check before season, replace after a few years, etc) and just disconnect the push fittings etc.

While I'm still pondering the cooler and cabinet ideas to isolate noise from my pump, I also want to further explore the idea of switching to a procon pump as it seems like they run much quieter. I have a 1/3 HP motor lying around. Any suggestions for which model Procon pump would be sufficient to run three to four 400GPD membranes? Procon has what seems like thousands of different pumps available.
