View Full Version : Please HELP me understand AXEON Membrane specs

So i bought an AXEON HF5 4x4040 membrane and need help understanding the specs. Please keep in mind i am using this for water use and this is the only forum on the entire internet that has Awesome info on RO for Maple guys.

This is how I have it hooked up since 2017 and has been working fine (citiy water TDS at 280 and after membrane I have TDS of 2 )but i took the membrane out to clean and have a spare in hand to swap if needed. My City tap water TDS is 280. I have a Kenmore water sof. I use a 3/4HP Carbonator motor with a procon 330GPH with a carbon and sediment filter going to my AXEON HF5. My main water is piped with a 4.5x20 inch 5 micron sediment and a 4.5x20 inch Coconut Carbon filter that goes before my water softener. MY RO is hooked up to this filtered and softened water.



My questions are concentrate says 5:1 and i do not understand what that means as my procon 330gph at 120 psi Membrane inlet pressure is making Permeate of 2.2 GPM at 77 degrees here in Florida and my Concentrate waste is 3.5 GPM. I feel i am wasting to much concentrate water that i am dumping outside to my yard. Can you guys please explain 5:1 concentrate, permeate recovery of 15% etc. I would also want any input on cleaning the membrane as i have never cleaned it :(. I read about Sodium Hydroxide(Lye) and Citrid Caid which i have both in hand as well to attempt a clean.

I can post pics of my setup as i am now changing it to a new setup as i just acquired a new Procon 240GPH to play around with another 3/4hp motor.
