With Maple Sugar, would this work for sifting it? I am not sure what size mesh to use and I don't want to get one that is too small where it clogs up all the time because the granules do not fit through.

That's what we use. I'd get the bigger, 8 cup one though. More surface area and not much more price.

To be honest, I think we had problems with a sifter like that. There's always some clumps that are hard as rocks and they would get clogged up in the mechanism. I think we just used something like these mesh strainers:

We put the sugar in the mesh bowl and then shook it out into another container. Save the chunks. People will buy those too to put in coffee and tea.

I use what DaveB uses, I use a large spoon to force it through, works pretty good if it is done while it is warm.

I think most flour sifters are fairly light duty and may not hold up to the task of sugar. I use a food mill like this (https://www.amazon.com/OXO-Good-Grips-Food-1071478/dp/B000I0MGKE/ref=asc_df_B000I0MGKE/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167142021489&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4967802484548665098&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9052160&hvtargid=pla-125520577755&psc=1) and it does a very good job breaking the clumps in to small pieces. It comes with 3 different sized SS screens.
