I'm going to "giver a go" again this year. I've got my trails all set and I'm getting the evaporator set to go. Just finished a warm spell that planted the seed. How is everyone else up here in the northwest corner doing? I'm in S.E. Sawyer co.

Too early foe me. Too much snow. I am going to wait until after Birkie. We are suppose to have a major snow next week.

I’ve got the fever but the snow keeps cooling it off. I’m starting prep work at the house. Trail work in the woods will be in a week or so. I imagine the snowmobiles will be stuck a few times!

Brad, I'm your neighbor to the west. Did you tap yet? I'm still holding off for better weather. These weekly storms are kicking my butt. I've made syrup until April 21st before so I'm not giving up hope just so it doesn't go from 0 to 70. Good luck

I tapped a couple good trees next to the garage tonight and was running about a drop a second. Might run a little tomorrow but will freeze up until next week. Put in about hallf the taps out tonight on snowshoes. Made it to 2 trees before giving up and putting snowshoes on. Was still rough.

I put out 20 taps March 16, they were all wet, got about a half gallon per before the cold front came in. I'll put out another 20 tomorrow- it's brutal weather but I can walk on top of the two feet of snow. It's going to be tough collecting- we'll see, but I might dump some early run if I'm up to my hips in snow as it softens- heresy to dump sap! Cumberland, WI.

We were finally able to tap one sap line yesterday, on snowshoes, most were dripping fairly quickly. There is no frost in the ground up here, so I'm thinking it's going to start and end quickly. Happy Sapping!

I boiled about 40 gallons on Sunday- Monday, March 26-27. Yesterday and today too cold to do much. A few more taps, now at 50

I put in 80 taps on 3/19. Roughly 1/4 were wet. When I collected on 4/2 I had a total of 25 gallons of sap. Half of the trees still aren’t producing anything at all.

Weather looks good this coming week but the forecast is into the upper 60s after April 10. That might be it for the season. There is still 2-3 feet of snow on the ground here. Maybe there is a chance the season will hold on if the warm spell passes and it cools off again.

I cooked off another 40 gallons on Sunday Monday April 2-3. Really windy, I didn't expect much run today but was surprised to find a bit over a gallon per tap in my yard trees. Some of the woods trees are still buried in 2 ft of snow and doing almost nothing. It's a real pain collecting, as you all know. Breaking through the snow and some of the low spots are puddles underneath. A couple of red maple buckets are sitting in water- didn't even try to collect this time. Probably will boil again when the wind goes down tomorrow.

We had a decent run over Easter weekend, but no freezing after that. I finished off the season and bottled today. 38 pints. If a quart of syrup per tap is a good standard, I was far short of that this year, 38 pints for 50 taps. I left the taps in, expect freezing weather later this weekend, so we will see. Sure easier walking in the woods, almost all snow gone!

Here in Bayfield CO. I have had a test tap out and it's running well. I tapped one of my saplines yesterday. The weather for more than 10 days looks perfect for sap. So early, but after a bust last year, I'm willing to risk it.

I put a test tap in on Sunday and have gotten a half gallon sap each of the last three days. I expect that to continue for a week or so, but since I'm on buckets I won't put in all my taps yet- holes would dry up or get bacteria. But I likely will tap earlier than usual- maybe last week of February? I assume the sap that is flowing now is lost and gone, so worry about what will be left. We'see>

I tapped today SE Sawyer Co. The way the soft maples look, I'm figuring its not going to last long. Next 10 days look pretty decent. Trees by the garage had inch in the bags in couple hours. Couple inches of snow and not much frost.

We tapped 100 trees yesterday - just north of Tony in Rusk County.
About 2/3 of them were wet when I pulled the bit out.
Didn't tap any soft maples this year, looks like they could bud at any time.
If the forecast is correct, looks to be good for the most part in the coming weeks.
