Hi All,

I'm currently running a 4x150 with an aquatek 8852.

While the system works well, its slow.

I'm thinking about adding a simple recirc line to up the Brix.

I currently take my 1.7 to about 6.0 in a single pass but it takes 24 hours to get through an IBC of sap.

Do you think this system would benefit from the recirc?

The goal would be to get closer to 8% with less fouling.

Thoughts?

Bryan

What pressure are you running?

You’re getting really good results as is with that pump. You might be able to hit 8% with a recirculating line added but I don’t think you’ll beat 24 hours per tote at those concentration levels.

I ran this experiment (same pump, downsized from 150 to 100 to reduce replacement costs) for similar reasons. If you think the first cycle is slow, the second is almost double. I did go from 3 to 6 to 8, like they say, but I've gone back once to keep the process moving. I'm wondering if it would be unhelpful if I split the circuit to two membranes each and switch over while rinsing. In-season attrition has shaved off a canister or two and the numbers don't seem to change.
