Has anyone built one of these? If so, how difficult was it? Did you borrow one and copy it or how did you the dimensions? Thanks for any info in advance.

I built one in an afternoon from the pictures in the catalogs. I used 2 pieces of 1x1 square tubing to mount the vice grips on, and they slde back and forth on 3/8" bolts that go thru holes drilled thru the square tubing. They can't kick off sideways, just slide back and forth. A simple scissors action set of handles move them nicely.

The tubing grabs are 7/16" coupling nuts from the hardware store. I clamped the vice grips on them square, welded it firmly, split in half with a porta-band and used the grinder to smooth everything up.
