The background...

We have been a sap only farm since we started tapping in 2018.
We have a lot of vertical drop available (about 200 feet from the top down to the collection point)
We have only tapped a small fraction of the available trees
We have only used 3/16 tubing (Leader Max Flow).
The first two years the 3/16 tubing ran down into 250 gallon totes.
In 2020 we added a 3/4" mainline with 3/16 tubing feeding the mainline. Mainline runs mostly straight down the hill.
The 3/16 tubing runs diagonally up the hill.
We have not been good at keeping the feed lines in straight lines (lots of zigzag)
We try to keep the feed lines to about 21 taps.

2022 Season
+ 328 Taps
+ 4,075 gallons

The questions...

Would it make more sense to have lateral lines (5/16? 3/4?) that feed into the mainline and run the 3/16 tubing straight up the hillside?
