Has anyone smoked maple syrup? if so how did you do it? I thought about cold smoking like you do cheese. Im afraid on a smoker would be to much heat even at a low setting.
I don't think it's going to give you the high you are looking for, but it's worth a try.

I talked with a producer who was doing this a few years ago. I don't recall what their name was but they "infused" the syrup with a smoke flavor by bubbling it through the syrup. It was different and not something that you would put on pancakes. Hope that helps.

my first year making maple I boiled it in a stock pot on an open fire. lots of smokey flavors.

I've heard of several people who use "liquid smoke." Be forewarned that a little goes a very long way in maple syrup.
Personally, I'm not a fan of the combination.
