Recently purchased a new Lapierre Series 2000 single membrane RO, my first RO. I may upgrade it to add the 2nd membrane before the season, or I may use it as is for this season. My question is, how many gallons premate tank is required for an RO of this size for proper rinsing / washing cycles? Also, will the premate tank size requirement change once I do upgrade it to add the second membrane? Adding the 2nd membrane would take it from a "125" to a "250" as I understand it. Thanks in advance.

For my Deer Run, I used a 275-gal tote for permeate when it was a single membrane 125. I use two totes now that it's a two-membrane 250.
A backwash is recommended on this unit after 4-6 hours of use and a backwash uses 125 gallons per membrane. Then you'll want at least that much for soap washes and rinses especially late in the season. So, plan on 250 gallons of permeate storage per membrane.
first off congrats you will be very happy with an RO.
I am more a CDL RO guy so take it for what it is. The CDL services guys recommended 600 gallons per 8 inch membrane. One thing that I've heard regardless of the brand you can never put to much water through them. If you are going to be short on that 600 gallon mark I would recommend going heavier on the pre-rinse cycle.

I believe most RO's suggest 2x the hourly rate, thus 125x2=250 if single membrane, 250x2=500 if double membrane.
That said, I at first used a 550 gal plastic tank for permeate, but a year or 2 later I got a 1000 gal SS tank. My RO was a 250. Even with that, I often over flowed the 1000 gal tank on a high flow sap day. You will never regret getting a larger tank (other than the cost). be looking for an old SS milk tank, from the retired farmer, not a reseller. Over the years I bought, in this order, a 415 gal SS milk tank for $100, a 545 gal SS milk tank for $300, a 200 gal ss milk tank (no covers) free, a 1000 gal milk SS tank $700, and a 1000 gal SS milk tank for $600. Just keep looking around.
