What HP shop vacuums are people using for their vacuum filters. I tried a 2 hp and it doesn't seem to powerful enough at the end of the sap. doing about 1 1/2 to 2 gallons at a time for filtering I am using DE as well

I see you are on vacuum with your tubing I ran a vacuum line to my sugar house and used that works a lot better.

That wouldn’t be possible because of distance - doesn’t seem like that would have more vacuum than a ship vac either

A decent shop vac will only pull 5-6" Hg vacuum. Most all maple pumps will do far better. Your problem with a maple pump is that it might pull too much vacuum and implode your filter cannister. If your vacuum filter isn't a commercial unit (which generally have relief valves to prevent that problem), you'd want to be darn careful using a maple vacuum on it.

If it was feasible my vacuum system is 3/16 on flat ground. I use a small shurflow pump can’t remember the size - it’s 110 volt as it’s near power . Would that be enough to create vacuum in a vacuum filter just curious thanks

I am using a 5 hp. I do about a gallon between filter changes sometimes 1.5 if I push it. I went from a 2hp to a 5hp for many reasons and I do think it helped although I do not think it was a huge difference for me anyway. I have the 9 inch CDL version.

I just use a 2 hp shop vac on my homemade vacuum filter and it sucks the syrup down just fine. I do not use DE.
