I've been filtering through flat and cone filters for many years, I do about 20gal. Of finished product a season. I found a badgerland 7in hand pump filter press used and figured it might be a good purchase to try. I usually try to filter and bottle 5gal batches at a time. I was wondering if it's possible to do smaller batches with the press by taking out 1 or 2 plates? Read a few old posts that say it's possible but very curious about this.

I used my 7" inch Wesfab press last season for the first time. My previous set up only allowed for 4 gal batches at a time and that amount worked well with the press. How small of batches are you talking about?
We always did that with our 7”. And now do it with our 10”. We use as many sections as we think it will need for that boil. Different length pieces of pipe to go over rods to make up the difference. Usually works. Sometimes it bites us*♂️. If we just have a little syrup left when it plugs we pull one hollow plate and put2 new papers on that and finish.
