Its time for me to clean the pan.
My phosphoric acid just arrived.

When making up a working solution, what concentration am I shooting for?
I'm assuming soak the pan in acid, scrub, neutralize, drain, wash, scrub some more and then rinse a few times?

All help is appreciated.

Thanks!

!. Get you PH strips ready. They are an absolute necessity
2. You need to fill the pan to the level that you want to clean.
3. Slowly add acid to the water and check PH level after a bit. Keep adding acid, then checking. PH needs to be between 2-3 for the acid to work properly
4. Build a small fire to warm acid until maybe 150 degrees.
5. Let acid sit at least 24 hrs
6. Either drain acidic water into a container for future use or neutralize. Scrub, rise, drain, repeat.

I would add to Joe's excellent list...wear the proper PPE (goggles, gloves, smock), have water nearby to flush skin if necessary, and have eyewash nearby in case any should splash in your eyes. Have baking soda on hand if you plan to neutralize. Keep kids and pets away.

okay. If you guys are going get serious then I'll chime in:

Don't forget to review your SDS sheet and have it readily available in case of emergency.

All the paper work sure takes the fun out of it these days!

Why not just use white vinegar? Or commercial pan cleaner? Way much safer to use

The commercial pan cleaner from Leader is phosphoric acid.
