View Full Version : Tapping and tree questions

Unsure of what the appropriate way is to tap these maples in my yard that have trunks that split off from one base. I heard I can measure each trunk as if it were its own tree and tap each trunk if big enough or to measure the base and tap just that. Unsure what the best practice is. Thanks!

Treat them as if they are separate trees. If a stem is large enough, tap it.

If there are multiple small stems, you might consider thinning them out a bit (after the season) to let the better stems grow faster.
